Manager of Events

The Saint Paul Area Chamber of Commerce is seeking an enthusiastic self-starter to join our dynamic team as the Manager of Events. This highly motivated individual will be responsible for managing and implementing Chamber events, in addition to enhancing relationships with members to help the Chamber meet its organizational goals and objectives. The Events team is responsible for executing nearly 100 events annually that help our members connect, develop professionally and stay up to date on issues that affect our business community.

Responsibilities (other duties may be assigned):

1. Work with the Director of Events to implement monthly and annual events focused on networking, educational and professional development, in addition to other special events.
2. Research and implement innovative ideas to enhance current events or to create new events.
3. Develop and maintain strong and positive relationships with vendors, service providers, staff, and other stakeholders associated with event planning to ensure highly effective and successful events.
4. Draft content for website, social media channels and e-mail marketing campaigns.
5. Work with staff to identify leads for in-kind, cash and media sponsorships, in addition to assisting in the development of new sponsorship opportunities.
6. Organize volunteer meetings and support materials for committees within assigned areas.
7. Coordinate leasing the Chamber’s suite at the Xcel Energy Center for Minnesota Wild games and other events.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

1. Demonstrated success in event planning, management and implementation. Proven ability to meet and exceed revenue goals through negotiating with vendors, securing sponsorships and increasing event attendance.
2. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
3. Demonstrated ability to lead projects with minimal supervision.
4. Possess superior problem solving skills.
5. Ability to effectively work with all levels of Chamber staff, volunteer and member leadership and to confidently communicate with stakeholders about Chamber priorities.
6. Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office (specifically Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook). Familiarity with database software and email marketing campaigns (preferably Constant Contact).
7. Knack for a variety of social media channels – Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube, Flickr

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate would likely possess an undergraduate degree in business, communications, or related field. Candidate must have proven success in coordinating events and meeting revenue goals. Professional presence and strong verbal and written communications skills are required.
